Rep. Jimmy Gomez, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 34th district since 2017, recently shared a series of tweets addressing significant issues and initiatives. Gomez, who succeeded Xavier Becerra and previously served in the California State Assembly, highlighted community efforts following natural disasters and legislative measures for data protection and healthcare.

On February 20, 2025, Rep. Gomez acknowledged local heroism after devastating fires in Los Angeles by honoring a teacher from Lincoln Heights. "After the devastating LA fires, everyday heroes stepped up. I honored #LincolnHeights teacher @VeronicaBane, who led @SmidtTechHS students in collecting 14,000+ books for kids, parents & teachers who lost everything. They’re rebuilding lives—one book at a time."

Later that day, Gomez addressed concerns about privacy breaches involving IRS data on social media. He stated his commitment to protecting taxpayer information through new legislation: "Elon & his DOGE Musketeers want access to your IRS data—Social Security, bank info, everything...As a member of the Democratic Rapid Response Team, I’m fighting to pass the Taxpayer Data Protection Act to safeguard your info & increase penalties."

In another tweet on February 20th, he warned against proposed cuts to Medicaid by political opponents: "Before you scroll, you need to see this...Trump & the GOP want to slash Medicaid, gut clinics, and leave millions without care—all for billionaire tax breaks...I’m fighting back with top health care leaders."
