The Los Angeles Recreation and Parks Department is providing families and community members with affordable and safe aquatic activities at public pools, lakes, and beaches. With drowning being the second-leading cause of accidental death for children under 14, it is crucial that children learn to swim and understand water safety.

SwimLA is one of several programs offered by the City’s Aquatics Division. The program ensures that young Angelenos between the ages of 4 and 17 have increased opportunities to learn how to swim. Supported by various partners, SwimLA extends summer pool hours, increases the number of available swim classes for youth, and offers thousands of scholarships to families demonstrating financial need.
