A man from Mercer County, New Jersey, has admitted to making threats against the white community. Joshua Cobb, 24, of Trenton, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Robert Kirsch in federal court in Trenton to transmitting a threat in interstate commerce.

According to documents and statements made in court, on December 17, 2022, Cobb used social media to post a message expressing his intent to attack the white community with firearms. The message detailed his plans for an attack in New Jersey during 2023.

Cobb admitted he understood the threatening nature of his posts and had provided law enforcement with information about potential targets for his attack. He also discussed his access to guns and admiration for other mass shooters.

The charge of transmitting a threat in interstate commerce carries a maximum penalty of five years imprisonment and a $250,000 fine. Sentencing is set for May 20, 2025.

Acting U.S. Attorney Vikas Khanna credited special agents from the FBI and task force officers from the Joint Terrorism Task Force for their work on the investigation. Assistance was also provided by multiple law enforcement agencies including those from California and local police departments.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Vera Varshavsky with support from the U.S. Department of Justice's Counterterrorism Section.
