Jimmy Gomez, a U.S. Congressman representing California's 34th district since 2017, recently addressed several key issues affecting his constituents through a series of tweets. His posts focused on affordability, federal funding cuts, and healthcare expansion efforts.

On March 18, 2025, Gomez highlighted the issue of affordability in his district, emphasizing its impact on Latino, AANHPI, and communities of color. He stated: "Affordability is the #1 issue for Latino, AANHPI, and communities of color in my district—just like everyone else struggling with rent, child care, and putting food on the table. I’m fighting to lower these costs and make America more affordable so families can thrive."

Later that day, Gomez expressed concerns over potential budget cuts proposed by Republicans. He warned that these cuts could significantly affect California's federal funding for Medi-Cal (Medicaid) and CalFresh (SNAP), stating: "The Republican budget proposal could strip California of tens of billions in federal funding for Medi-Cal (Medicaid) and CalFresh (SNAP). Cuts of this size would leave millions of families without access to affordable health care or food assistance."

In another tweet on March 18, Gomez criticized former President Trump’s stance on healthcare while advocating for expanded coverage under Medicare. He announced his support for legislation co-sponsored with fellow lawmakers to broaden Medicare services: "While Trump attacks health care for seniors & people with disabilities, I’m fighting to expand it. I’m cosponsoring legislation with @RepLloydDoggett and @SenSanders to ensure Medicare covers dental, hearing & vision—because everyone should have access to the care they need."
