Rep. Jimmy Gomez, who has served in the U.S. Congress representing California’s 34th district since 2017, shared a series of tweets on March 18 and 19, 2025, addressing various political concerns. His comments were directed towards Project 2025, Elon Musk, and the handling of sensitive personal information by House Republicans.
On March 18, Gomez expressed his disapproval of Project 2025, associating it with former President Donald Trump's agenda. He criticized the initiative as detrimental to both the economy and the country by stating: "They’re finally saying the quiet part out loud—Project 2025 is Trump’s Agenda." He highlighted specific concerns such as tax breaks for billionaires, potential cuts to Medicaid, and attacks on workers’ and women’s rights.
Later that day, Gomez raised issues about data privacy under House Republican policies. He alleged that prominent figures like Elon Musk were being allowed unchecked access to Americans' sensitive information without accountability. He stated: "House Republicans are letting @ElonMusk & DOGE rummage through Americans’ Social Security, bank, and health info—without accountability." He further emphasized his intention to hold Musk accountable if others would not.
Continuing his critique on March 19, Gomez accused Musk and associated entities of mishandling personal data following reckless layoffs. In his tweet he remarked: "First, reckless layoffs—now, dangerous data leaks." He described their actions as inefficient governance equating them to ransacking government resources.
