On March 22, 2025, Rep. Gomez addressed the importance of cancer research in light of his father's battle with pancreatic cancer. He criticized former President Donald Trump's education policies for jeopardizing cancer research funding at institutions like the University of California and the NIH. "I lost my dad to pancreatic cancer—so I know how critical cancer research & treatment is... Trump’s attacks on education are putting cancer research at risk, gutting funding for places like the University of CA & the NIH... Cutting research DOESN'T save money—it costs lives."

Later that day, on March 23, Gomez expressed his enthusiasm for cultural celebrations by attending the Annual Golden Dragon Parade hosted by CCC LA. In another tweet posted on March 23, he highlighted concerns about senior citizens' reliance on Social Security benefits. He pointed out that a significant portion of people over 65 depend entirely on these payments and stressed the importance of timely disbursements."Another out-of-touch billionaire who doesn’t care about seniors. 28% of people over 65 rely entirely on Social Security—there’s no “waiting until next month.” Seniors need that check on time, every time."
