“President Biden has made the right decision to draw from the $40 billion aid package Congress approved last month to send High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems to Ukraine. When our congressional delegation met with President Zelenskyy in Kyiv, he emphasized how urgently Ukrainian troops needed such medium and long-range rocket systems, as the Russians have consolidated their firepower in the country’s east and the fighting is now occurring at greater distances. After leaving Ukraine, our delegation met with President Biden at the White House to pass along the urgency of this request and urge support. This latest tranche of military aid will assist Ukraine’s fight for freedom against the Russian invaders, and I am glad to see the administration is swiftly moving forward.”
