Rep. Jimmy Gomez, who serves in the U.S. Congress representing California's 34th district, shared several updates via Twitter on April 17, 2025. Known for his dedication to community development and public health, Gomez addressed pressing issues ranging from housing to regional healthcare services and gun violence.

On April 17, 2025, Gomez highlighted a notable housing project in Los Angeles, stating, "In the heart of LA’s housing crisis, Lorena Plaza in Boyle Heights isn’t just a building—it’s safety, stability, and a fresh start for working families and veterans." He emphasized his leadership role in the Renters Caucus and his legislative efforts with the Revitalizing Downtowns & Main Streets Act to expand affordable housing.

Later that day, Gomez addressed significant cuts to Health and Human Services regional offices implemented by Trump and RFK Jr. He stated, "Trump and RFK Jr. have shut down half of all HHS regional offices — including the one in SF, which serves ALL of CA." Gomez expressed concern for public health, noting these actions threaten the well-being of 166 million Americans. He is actively seeking explanations from HHS and pushing for the restoration of vital community services.

On the same day, Gomez commented on a matter involving gun violence and educational institutions. He remarked, "Things like this DON’T just take place. No student—from elementary school to college—should fear for their lives while receiving an education." He extended his sympathies to the FSU community and advocated for actions to curb the epidemic of gun violence in America.

Jimmy Gomez has been actively serving California's 34th District since 2017, following his tenure in the California State Assembly from 2012 to 2017. Born in Orange County in 1974, Gomez resides in Los Angeles and is an alumnus of the University of California, Los Angeles.
