Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove, representing California's 37th district in the U.S. Congress since 2023, has taken to social media to voice her opinions on several pressing issues involving the Trump Administration. Utilizing her platform on April 16th and 17th, 2025, Kamlager-Dove addressed her concerns regarding women's rights, immigration, and maternal health.
On April 16, Kamlager-Dove expressed outrage towards what she refers to as unlawful actions by the Trump Administration regarding women’s rights. She stated, "The Trump Administration is attacking women. And a lot of this sh*t ain’t legal. I asked my @DemWomenCaucus sisters to break it down."
Continuing on this theme, on April 17, Kamlager-Dove criticized the administration's spending of taxpayer dollars to incarcerate a mistakenly deported individual abroad. She urged compliance with a Supreme Court decision, commenting, "The Trump Administration is using our taxpayer dollars to pay a foreign government to keep a man it mistakenly deported in an inhumane mass prison. Trump must abide by the Supreme Court’s unanimous ruling and bring Kilmar home."
Later on April 17, Kamlager-Dove addressed the impact of policies on reproductive freedoms and maternal health, especially affecting Black mothers during Black Maternal Health Week. Her social media post highlighted these challenges: "Attacks on our reproductive freedoms are making the maternal health crisis worse, particularly for Black mothers. During Black Maternal Health Week, we recommit to eliminating these disparities and ensuring all women have access to quality maternal care."
Sydney Kamlager-Dove, who was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1972 and graduated from the University of Southern California with a BA in 1994, has already shown a notable career in public service. Before Congress, she served in the California State Assembly and the California Senate. She currently resides in Los Angeles.
