On January 29, 2025, Kamlager-Dove expressed skepticism about Trump's claim that his directive would not affect "individual assistance." She stated that the order had already led to the shutdown of Medicaid's payment portal across all states and Head Start's system in several states. Kamlager-Dove questioned the consequences once a court-imposed block on the freeze is lifted. "Trump claims this won't impact 'individual assistance,' but his dangerous directive shut down Medicaid's payment portal in all 50 states and Head Start's system in several states too. Who knows what will happen when the court's block on the freeze is lifted?"

In another tweet posted on January 29, 2025, she described uncertainty surrounding which specific areas might be affected by Trump's financial measures but noted that it had caused significant disruption within government operations. An emergency court ruling temporarily blocked the freeze until at least February 3. "I'll keep it real—it's still unclear what exactly would be impacted by Trump's harmful and reckless federal money freeze. Additionally, Kamlager-Dove emphasized Congress's authority over fiscal matters, stating that Trump could not override Congressional powers or withhold funding for essential programs. She reaffirmed her commitment to defending these programs against any such attempts by former President Trump. "Here's a civics lesson, Donald: Congress has the power of the purse, not you. You can't bully Congress out of our Constitutional authority—@HouseDemocrats will not allow you to cut or withhold funding for these vital programs."
