Rep. Jimmy Gomez, who has served in the U.S. Congress representing California's 34th District since 2017, recently shared his perspectives on economic and healthcare issues via a series of tweets. Gomez, a Los Angeles resident born in Orange County, California, expressed concerns over the financial burden of tariffs and potential cuts to Medicaid.

On March 4, 2025, Rep. Gomez highlighted the financial impact of tariffs on working families. He stated that reports indicate these tariffs could cost "anywhere from $1,600 to $2,000 per year for the average family," equating to up to "$166 per month." "Now hearing reports these tariffs will cost anywhere from $1,600 to $2,000 per year for the average family."

Later that day, Gomez addressed potential cuts to Medicaid by Trump and House Republicans. He noted that such reductions could affect "425,000 people" in his district and emphasized the importance of maintaining funding for healthcare recovery. "Medicaid is on the line."

In another tweet posted on March 5, 2025, Rep. Gomez responded critically to former President Trump's statement about America's economic condition amidst what he perceives as an economic downturn. "Trump just said 'America is Back.'…when the economy is collapsing."
