The Autry Museum of the American West has announced a new event series titled "Autry After Hours," inviting visitors to explore its galleries during Thursday evenings. This initiative offers an opportunity for attendees to enjoy live performances and engage with artists, musicians, poets, and writers representing the diverse communities in Los Angeles.
The inaugural event on October 24 will feature live music and dancing at the plaza. A traditional country music group will perform alongside country line dancing and two-step lessons conducted by Mike Bendavid from Mike’s Country Dancing.
On November 21, participants can join puppet designers from Rogue Artists Ensemble as they work on prototypes for their upcoming production of "Cowboy Elektra," which combines elements of Los Angeles history with Greek mythology.
The December 12 event will showcase HOPI R2, described as "the galaxy’s first Indigenous Droid." Artist Duane Koyawena and engineer Joe Mastroianni will present their creation, discussing the challenges faced in building the droid and incorporating Hopi cultural designs while demonstrating its functions.
