The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) has unveiled a new exhibition titled "Ritual Expressions: African Adornment from the Permanent Collection." The display highlights various forms of bodily adornments, including ritual textiles, clothing, and headwear, crafted by numerous cultures across the African continent.

This exhibition delves into how these adornments are designed to convey societal norms and their essential role in defining and communicating the identity and status of the wearer. "Ritual Expressions" is a curated collection featuring over 30 pieces that showcase the rich diversity of textiles, clothing, and headwear from more than 20 African cultures. All items are sourced from LACMA's permanent collection.

The exhibition is curated by Sharon S. Takeda, who serves as Senior Curator and Department Head of Costume and Textiles at LACMA.
