The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County (NHM) has announced the launch of new programs with the opening of its NHM Commons. These include "Ocean Encounters," a puppet performance featuring large-scale puppets, and "T.REX 3D," a film about the Tyrannosaurus rex, which will debut on November 18 and November 23 respectively.

Lori Bettison-Varga, President and Director of the Natural History Museums of Los Angeles County, stated, "NHM Commons is a physical manifestation of our important work as museums of, for and with Los Angeles." She emphasized that the programs aim to nurture community co-creation and belonging.

The NHM Commons will open on November 17 with a celebration including free events such as live performances, discussions, meet-and-greets with scientists, and more. The new wing features 75,000 square feet of renovated space with a transparent glass façade allowing views into the museum.

The puppet show "Ocean Encounters" presents sea creatures like Mosasaur and Ammonites through an imaginative performance. It will run on weekends and costs $10 with general admission but is free for members.

"T.REX 3D" offers insights into Tyrannosaurus rex research using CGI technology. Narrated by Sam Neill, it features NHM's Thomas the T.rex. The film screens daily in multiple languages and is also priced at $10 with general admission.
