Jimmy Gomez, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 34th district, has taken to social media to voice his thoughts and provide updates on various issues affecting his constituents. Through recent posts, Gomez addressed tariffs, community engagement, and cultural celebrations.

On April 12, 2025, Gomez highlighted the ongoing impact of tariffs, attributed to former President Trump, on Los Angeles's small businesses. He remarked, "Trump still has tariffs in effect that will affect LA’s small businesses, restaurants, and shops. As costs of importing goods increases, prices will go up on everything from produce to baby onesies. Enough is enough." Gomez emphasized the financial strain these tariffs place on local entities and consumers alike.

The following day, April 13, Gomez extended well-wishes for Passover. He tweeted, "Wishing everyone in LA and around the world a joyful and meaningful Passover. Chag sameach!" This message to his followers aimed to recognize and celebrate the cultural significance of the holiday.

Later on April 13, Gomez invited the community to participate in a Zoom town hall scheduled for April 15. He asserted, "We’re pushing back against Trump’s attacks. Join me live this Tuesday, April 15 for a Zoom town hall to talk about how we’re protecting our communities. I’ll break down what’s really going on, how I’m fighting back in Congress, and what it means for you. RSVP." The event aimed to engage residents in dialogue about the legislative efforts being undertaken to counteract policies enacted under Trump’s administration.

Jimmy Gomez is currently serving in the U.S. Congress, representing California’s 34th district. He replaced previous U.S Congress member Xavier Becerra in 2017. He has served in the U.S. Congress since 2017 and previously was part of the California State Assembly from 2012 to 2017.
