Representative Jimmy Gomez of California's 34th district, known for his advocacy and legislative work, shared updates on key issues through his social media on April 14 and 15, 2025. Gomez has been a U.S. Congress member since 2017, having succeeded Xavier Becerra.

On April 14, Gomez tweeted, "I and 200+ other House Democrats filed an amicus briefing to fight against Trump’s unconstitutional executive order aimed at ending birthright citizenship. If you’re born in the U.S., you’re a citizen—period." This effort falls under broader legal challenges faced by former President Trump's directives aimed at redefining birthright citizenship.

Later that day, Gomez announced a Zoom town hall scheduled for 1:30 PM PT the following day. In this virtual meeting, he plans to discuss strategies employed to counteract the Trump administration’s policies and efforts to safeguard communities.

On April 15, Gomez also commemorated the 78th anniversary of the Mendez v. Westminster case, highlighting its significance in ending segregation in California's schools and paving the way for the landmark Brown v. Board decision. He expressed honor in collaborating with Sylvia Mendez to enact legislation naming the Los Angeles Federal Courthouse in her tribute.

Jimmy Gomez, who was born in Orange County in 1974 and graduated with a BA from UCLA, continues his representation of California in Congress with a focus on civil rights and community protection.

Jimmy Gomez is currently serving in the U.S. Congress, representing California’s 34th district.
